Angel- Broken Body, Full Heart

Updated: Sep 27, 2023

Angelica, aka Angel, survived being hit by a car with multiple injuries but has proven to be a fighter and can make anyone smile with her angelic personality.

Intro to Dallas DogRRR (July 2022)

A good samaritan came across Angel and her broken body, witnessing her pulling herself around the apartment complex she was in. It is suspected she was hit by a car and her injuries include a left shattered hip/pelvis, shattered right front leg. She was fortunate enough to meet her foster mom, who initially was just going to be transporting her to the vet! This DallasDogRRR team member fell in love with Angel immediately and after a weekend at the Vet, she turned into foster mom and has taken care of Angel since August 22.

Current Health Progress

Right now Angel has a device called an external fixator on her front right leg holding things together after surgery. She also has plates in place on her pelvis and had an operation on her left hip joint. Currently, she is being seen multiple times per week for care, and needs the pins in her fixator cleaned 4 times a day. Additionally, she needs help from her humans to safely go potty outside. A sling is used to support her body weight as she re-gains strength.

Next Steps and More Info

Angel is being seen by a home physical therapist to continue building strength in her leg muscles. Once her fixator is removed, she may start water physical therapy as well! Of note, Angel is heart worm positive and has started treatment. She is on strict kennel rest for now.

She is described as "possibly the sweetest dog I've ever met". Despite only having slow introductions so far, she seems to love other dogs so far. Other interests include humans, food, more food, and car rides. She lets her foster family know when she needs to go outside to potty, but is otherwise a very quiet dog.

This pup has survived a lot in a short amount of time, and with the help of DallasDogRRR and our fantastic team, she will have the chance to live a long and happy life.
