DALLAS DOG IS SEEKING JUSTICE

Updated: Sep 28, 2023

This is our call to action! We are seeking justice for a STARVING TO DEATH DOG with sores on its paws from being stuck for so long. He cannot get up, and feces are stuck on his rear because he can no longer move to get up and properly defecate.

REPORT # 202301098 | 140 Shearer Wood Lane Broken Bow, OK

We cannot stand by and find this behavior from our law enforcement acceptable. It is time to take action.

Please take the time to call and report this dog. He is suffering. He is dying in front of their eyes. It is inhumane!!!

THIS IS THE 3RD DOG WE HAVE PHOTOS OF AND HAVE SEEN STARVING TO DEATH ON THIS ROAD IN THE PAST TWO YEARS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT.

LATEST UPDATE: The MCSO saw my Facebook comment on their page with the photo of the starving dog asking for help.

They said they made contact with the owner and that they said the dog was "born with a disease" and had veterinarian care in Texas, and that MCSO was waiting for the owner to obtain proof of those records.

- McCurtain County Sheriff's Office: (580) 286-3331 - Ask to speak to Lieutenant

- McCurtain County District of Attorney: (580) 286-7611 - Ask if court order was ever made to seize dog from the property.

- McCurtain County Commissioner's Office: (580) 286-7428 - Said they can't do anything.

Oklahoma's Attorney General in OKC: (405) 521-3921 - Leave a message

Oklahoma Attorney General in Tulsa: (918) 581-2885 - Leave a message

Oklahoma's Dept. of Agriculture: (405) 521-3864 - They said the county has to invite them out.

Agent Kim of FBI Dept. located in Durant, Oklahoma: (580) 924-4328 - Most helpful in calling to follow up but cannot personally do anything.

Dian Jordan is the Mayor of Hochatown (our land is technically neither Hochatown or Broken Bow jurisdiction) and said to contact Larry Stovall, a dog advocate of the McCurtain Gazette, or email them at paper@mccurtain.com

TIMELINE OF TRYING TO SAVE 3RD DYING DOG ON SHEARER WOOD LANE:

Thursday 1/12 - McCurtain County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Bruce Johnson came out at around 10:45am and saw the starving dog. Sgt. Johnson took pictures of the dog and said he was leaving a note for the owners to take it to the vet.

We asked what the timeline was since it needs urgent medical care, and he said that was up to his discretion. We let him know we were going to ask the OSBI (Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation) if that's true and he was not happy about that as he was leaving. We also have recorded audio of him in our cabin saying he wanted to SHOOT HIS OWN DOGS for barking last night, and that he didn't let them in when it was way below freezing temps since they had a barn to get into, and that he hates his wife's indoor dogs.

The FBI Agent based in Durant, Oklahoma, Agent Kim, cared enough to take our call although their legal duty is to humans only, but she said she would call and ask what they're doing.

After, Deputy Watson called asked me "what's going on about a dog" and said he didn't know why anyone would get the OSBI involved just "over a dog" which we have recorded audio of as well.

We explained why since this is the 3rd dog we've documented starving and nothing happening, and he said he would get with the Sgt. and see what's going on. No calls back for any update for us the rest of the day.

Friday 1/13 - At 7:30am, the report has still not been made as Sgt. Johnson said he would do between 5-7am the next day when he was back on duty, seemingly in no hurry, but we have photo evidence of our written statements and started calling officials.

At around 11am, we got word from the Lieutenant Richard that they were issuing a court order to the District of Attorney and needed a Judge to approve seizing the animal from the property

At around 5pm, the clerk or whoever answering the phone at the MCSO said he hadn't had a chance to talk to anyone about it personally and couldn't bother looking up the report # to check any updates on seizing the dog.

We found the McCurtain County Sheriffs Office Facebook page and commented on their last post with the photo of the starving animal asking for their urgent help in saving it.

T

hey commented back their latest update about the owner of the dog saying it was “born with a disease.” (Born with a disease where the dog grows up and starves to death???) Now, they're patiently waiting for the owner to give them evidence of that record.

Saturday 1/14 - No further reply to our Facebook comments in their poor response.

Do you have an update on this poor little guy? It's going to snow really hard in Oklahoma next week, and I've been worried about him.
