Rescue is a risk. We can just never predict the outcome and how severe a case will be. We received a plea for help to take in a sweet German Shepherd.
We believe Angelica was hit by a car and left to die. She was found stumbling through a neighborhood, unable to walk.
We rushed her to the ER. We discovered she was microchipped. However we called the owners listed and they do not want her.
Once at the ER, we received the worst possible news for Angelica. We found out that her injuries from being hit by a car were incredibly severe. Her front left leg was shattered and her right rear hip is shattered. In addition her left pelvis is fractured significantly. She is struggling to urinate and have a bowel movement. They also said from the impact she has a Pneumothorax. This was an older injury they are thinking about 5-7 days was when she sustained the injury.
We are not sure how she managed to survive on the streets for a few days on her own. She is in so much pain and suffered out there trying to get help. This video shows the condition she was in when found. How could she be ignored for days, wandering outside in the Texas heat?
Medical rescue can be the most heartbreaking of all parts of rescue. Angelica has never been a wanted and loved dog. She was adopted and given away for free to someone who also clearly didn’t want her. Now we are in the middle of the most difficult decision, what will the quality of her life be? Can these injuries even be fixed?
The estimated cost of her surgery to save her and help her legs will be over $15,000. We want her to have quality of life and not have a life full of pain.
Donations are needed to save Angelica's life!!!

Update:
Angelica's surgery went well. The surgeon said we will have to see if the bone will heal, it was really blown to bits ! However the surgery went well on the front left leg.
Angelica what a trooper, she is still at the ER they are managing her pain!! She has the first surgery where they repaired the leg, they said it was shattered to bits they are hopeful it will heal!!
Second surgery is today where they will repair the pelvic are with plates and repair the hip with a possible FHO this is where they will put the hip back in place using a surgical procedure. We are hopeful this will work and she will make a full recovery.
Please consider donating we are $2,500 shy of her bill. We can do it! Thank you to all who have supported her and made this happen!!
Update: Angelica is finally able to begin recovering at her foster
home.
