Eugene's Transformation

Updated: Jul 21, 2022

When Eugene, a little 5-6 week old puppy, came into our rescue he was COVERED in fleas. When we say covered, we mean that we had to give him 3 baths and we were still pulling so many off of him. He was skinny with what appeared to be a wormy belly and he was so hungry. He was so little, weighing at just 3lbs.

He was not wanting to eat or drink so we started him on some medications and some special food.

He was just a baby! He needed our help.

Overnight, he showed some distressing GI symptoms. We wasted no time and got this guy to the vet that day. After what was an inconclusive parvo test, it was decided he’d stay overnight at the Emergency Vet for more tests and more intensive care.

Despite not feeling well, he was doing his best to remain in good spirits, high energy and still wanting to eat snacks.

After rehabilitation and much needed love and care from his foster family, Eugene was ready to be adopted! Our fosters work very hard and volunteer their time to save these dogs and get them ready for furever homes.

Here is what his foster mom had to say:

"Our sweet boy Eugene was whisked off to his furever home. I’m tearing up as I type this. This was a hard one and this boy has made such a big impression in our lives. Through the sadness was complete joy and comfort handing him off to his furever family. I know he’s in great hands. After losing their furbaby of 13 years, they were finally ready to open their hearts to another. Eugene caught their eye and well, here we are. He has a sweet brother who is ready to give his love to a cute puppy and he wears crocs…Eugene’s favorite hobby aside from snacking is stealing crocs . Congratulations sweet Eugie!"

Thank you for HELPING US, to HELP ANIMALS, overcome their yesterdays and rewrite their tomorrows.
